Life – a bottomless box that has infinite many things to offer and one can never be sure of what’s coming up next to them. It has all the ability to surprise you when you are least expecting it. But then there are many of us who live so tightly that they don’t allow life happen to them. Without even realizing what all they are missing on they keep on living a stereotype for eternity.
Falling Inn Love explores the life of a ‘successful’ working woman Gabriela Diaz (Christina Milian) who works in a male dominant office, has a commitment phobic boyfriend and is passively looking for something to fill the void in her life. Unfortunately (read fortunately) her firm gets closed and she decides to breakup with her boyfriend. She gets drunk and participates in an online contest and wins the ownership of an Inn in New Zealand. Yes, its all very filmy but never mind, as it is a film. She goes to New Zealand and reaches a very friendly neighbourhood but finds the deal to be a scam as the Inn was old and shabby and in awfully bad shape. From here starts a new chapter in her life where she is not sure about what to do next and how she learns to take things as they come.
It is a light-hearted romantic comedy with a very cheesy plot and predictable storyline, but the execution of the script has been done in a very refreshing way. The credit must be given to the director Roger Kumble. The idea of a small village where most of the inhabitants are welcoming, genuine, and kind and life is way simpler that it appears around us. With the breathtakingly beautiful surroundings it surely gives you a sense of relaxation from your hectic schedules. While watching the movie do not get surprised if you find yourself wondering about what exactly is stopping you to not to lead a life that is as simple and minimalistic as shown in the movie. The movie is a great tourism advertisement for New Zealand. Dave Garbett has done some brilliant cinematography and is going to cause many people adding New Zealand in their travel destinations.
The classic ‘hating at first and eventually starting to love’ chemistry between the lead cast is not something that we haven’t seen earlier but still both Christina Milian, Adam Demos have given a praiseworthy performances and have looked good together. The sequences with the old found love letters and reciting them to each other has been beautifully shown on the screen. Gilbert the goat has an important role to play and is the star whenever it is there in the scenes.
Watch the movie to see an American girl falling in love with the culture, tradition, simplicity and values of a small village in New Zealand and in the process admire the picturesque beauty of New Zealand and fall in love with the gifts that life has to offer. Watch it with some freshly brewed coffee and may be some homemade cookies and you will get ample reasons to feel relaxed.
