Netflix is flooded with all kind of series, movies and documentaries. Every day there is more and more content to watch. Though it serves you a lot as you get to choose from a large pool of content for something of your preference, many times some good content gets lost in the deep sea.
‘History 101’ is one such documentary that needs to be watched. It is a 10 episode series, each episode of about 20 – 25 minutes and have utilized the infographics very well to present the data in a simplistic manner. The series has touched the following subject in its season 1 in a really engaging manner –

- The Space Race
- The Rise Of China
- Plastics
- Oil and the Middle East
- Robots
- Feminism
- Nuclear Power
- AIDS
- Genetics
Each topic is packed with relevant data and information and the narrator has done a wonderful job to bring out all the important points in a way that is very easy to understand. The usage of some actual footage from the black and white era makes it more interesting and authentic to watch. The breaking down of some complex topics for easy understanding must be highly appreciated.
Unfortunately, there are a few factual errors in some of the episodes which is suicidal for a documentary that is based on facts and numbers. No doubt the makers should have been very careful with their research as in this meme loving era, people are ready to brutally dissect each and everything that comes their way. Having said that, it’s still important to iterate that it’s a very commendable approach to take some important and challenging topics and present it in a concise way in a short duration. Some might say that there is a lot that could have been added to each topic but you must acknowledge that when you get too many information in an hour long episode of an usual documentary, sometimes it becomes too much for the mind to take it all in one go.
The good part about this series is that people will google and do their own research after watching some startling facts about each of the topics which should be considered a win for sure.
Watch it for sure and get ready to be amazed by the facts that were completely unknown to you.
